Huntsville is located in the Muskoka region of Ontario. First settlement of this area was in 1869 by Captain George Hunt. He was the first to build a agricultural centre in Huntsville. Huntsville became officially incorporated in 1886 after a post office was built in the area. It is connected closely to Muskoka region. Both regions are close to Algonquin Park and Toronto. Huntsville also organises Ironman 70.3 triathlons. The Deerhurst resort is the main venue of the 2010 G8 Summit. Huntsville had a population of 18, 280 people in 2006. The town has a public secondary school known as the Huntsville High School.
